The enchanted forest glowed with an otherworldly light as 007n7 set up his telescope for his evening astronomy class. The clearing had always been his favorite spot to teach, but tonight felt different – the air buzzed with an unusual energy.
“And if you look just above the horizon, you’ll see–” His lecture was cut short by a deafening crash and a burst of purple light through the trees. “Class dismissed! Stay safe getting home!” he called out as his students scattered.
Rather than running away, 007n7 found himself drawn toward the source of the commotion. Through the underbrush, he discovered what appeared to be a sleek silver spacecraft, steam rising from its damaged hull.
“Oh stars, this landing was rougher than expected,” came a melodious voice as a tall figure emerged from the ship. The stranger had iridescent skin and wore what looked like a captain’s uniform.
“Are you okay?” 007n7 called out, surprising himself with his own boldness.
The alien turned, startled but then breaking into a warm smile. “I’m Noli, captain of the Star Crusader. And you are…?”
“007n7. I teach astrology right here in these woods, actually.”
“An astrologer? How fascinating! Perhaps you could help us navigate this planet while we repair our ship?”
Before 007n7 could respond, another alien bounded out of the ship. “Captain! The kitchen survived intact! I can still make those cosmic cupcakes you love!”
“That’s Elliot, our chef,” Noli explained, looking somewhat embarrassed. “He’s… enthusiastic.”
Over the next few weeks, 007n7 found himself spending every free moment helping the stranded aliens. Elliot’s experimental fusion of Earth and alien cuisine became a highlight of their meetings, even when things went explosively wrong. Noli and 007n7 grew closer, sharing stories about the stars – though from vastly different perspectives.
However, their peaceful arrangement was disrupted when Itrapped, a local scientist who had long harbored feelings for 007n7, discovered the aliens’ presence.
“You can’t trust them!” Itrapped confronted 007n7 one evening. “They’re probably planning an invasion. I’m only trying to protect you!”
“By following me around and photographing everything I do?” 007n7 challenged. “That’s not protection, that’s stalking.”
“If you won’t listen to reason,” Itrapped threatened, “I’ll have to alert the authorities.”
The situation came to a head during a stormy night when Itrapped led a group of investigators to the crash site. But instead of finding a threatening alien presence, they discovered Elliot teaching local children how to make gravity-defying soufflés, while Noli and 007n7 worked on star charts together.
“See?” Itrapped declared triumphantly. “They’re… they’re…” He deflated as he watched the peaceful scene.
“They’re just people,” 007n7 said softly. “People who crashed here and became my friends. And in Noli’s case…” He glanced at the captain, who smiled back warmly, “…maybe more than a friend.”
The investigators, won over by Elliot’s cooking and the aliens’ obvious harmlessness, agreed to keep their presence secret. Itrapped, seeing he’d lost, stormed off into the forest, never to bother them again.
As weeks turned to months, the Star Crusader was slowly repaired. On the night before their planned departure, Noli and 007n7 sat beneath the stars.
“You know,” Noli said, “a ship needs a good navigator. Someone who understands the stars from different perspectives.”
“Are you asking me to run away to space with you?”
“More like asking you to come home with me. Elliot’s already planning our wedding feast.”
007n7 laughed, then grew serious. “What about my classes?”
“We could come back every Earth season. You could teach both human and alien students about their shared sky.”
Under the same stars he’d spent his life studying, 007n7 found himself embarking on an adventure he’d never imagined. As it turned out, love wasn’t just written in the stars – sometimes it crashed right out of them.
And if anyone in the forest noticed that the local astrology teacher now had some rather unusual students in his classes, well, they just chalked it up to the enchanted woods working their magic once again.
